Unlike the Evolution motor of the 1980s, or the Shovelhead, or the Panhead, the Twin Cam shared almost no parts or specifications with the original Harley OHV motor of the 1930s, the Knucklehead. The Shovel motor I just built has solid lifters and solid adjustable pushrods. I am considering the conversion to Hydraulic since the motor is like new. I understand the concept of the heat expansion and loss of power with a solid lifter set up, but is there anyone who currently runs the solid lifters with no issues?
